How to apply for an Irish visa

Follow these steps to apply for a visa to Ireland. Some nationalities do not need this. This should be confirmed by you and your family members if they are dual nationals.
Application methods vary according to your nationality and current residence. In some countries, there may not be an Irish embassy, so it is dealt through some offices or consulates of some countries. In general, the Irish embassy in Abu Dhabi is the regional center for the Arab region, which is decided in your request.
Step 1 Find out the type of visa you need and submit your application online
Visit the Irish Naturalization and Immigration Service website. Find out the type of visa you need and submit your application online.
This visa may be either for work or tourism, for visits by family and relatives, or for other purposes.
For example, there are 9 types of work permits under the Work Permits (Amendment) Law of 2014, some of which are temporary and some of which can be renewed and taken for permanent residence or nationality. It includes the General Work Permit and Critical Skills Work Permit, which replaced the Work Permit and Green Card Permit respectively. The law also provides that non-citizens outside the European Economic Area who do not have a work permit and who have taken all reasonable steps to obtain one may be permitted to take civil measures against the employer to compensate them for the work performed or the services provided.
- General Work Permit
- Work permit for critical skills
- Work permit for the dependent / partner / spouse
- Permit to reactivate work
- Holding services work permits
- Work permits for transfer to the Irish company branch
- Work permits for a training period
- Sports and cultural work permits
- Work permits for exchange agreements
Step 2 Pay visa fees / service fees / purchase additional services

Step 3 book the appointment
If you are required to appear at the Visa Application Center in order to submit your documents, you can book an appointment at the Visa Application Center or you can attend during the time of application. You must submit your application within 30 days of the date you completed the online visa application form.
Step 4 Print your appointment confirmation receipt
Once the appointment process has been successfully completed, the appointment confirmation receipt will be sent to the email address you provided. You must print out the receipt and bring it with you when you attend the visa application center.
Step 5 Prepare your documents
When you come to the visa application center, you will need to bring a number of documents with you as shown in the lookout.
All supporting documents must be original and in English or accompanied by a certified translation.
The supporting documents you send are important because they provide information about your personal circumstances. Please note that it is up to you to persuade the Irish government decision-maker to grant the visa for the intended purpose.
Documents or lost copies
- In the event that your application documents are lost with one or more of the documents mentioned in the checklist, the visa application center will notify you of the lost documents and will give you the opportunity to submit them on the same day at the specified times. If you choose not to do so, you can still submit your application provided the center staff takes a note of the embassy’s decision-makers checklist.
- If your application lacks copies of the original documents, the visa application center will inform you of these documents and give you the opportunity to submit the missing copies on the same day. You will have the option to use the photocopying services available within the visa application center (at an additional cost) or to use the photocopying services available elsewhere.
Step 6 in the center
Bring your documents with you according to the document checklist.
When you arrive at the visa application center, you will take a number and wait for your number to be called to submit your application.
Once the visa application process is completed, a receipt will be issued. Please keep this receipt because you will need it later to take your passport / documents.
Important note: You will not be able to send other documents once your application is submitted at the Visa Application Center. The documents you submitted at the time you submitted your request will be the only documents to be considered. Unless you are asked later.
Step 7 Choose how you want to take your documents
Choose whether you prefer to receive your personal documents at the visa application center or send them to you by mail.
