Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company submits a request to the Food and Drug Organization to expedite approval for the production of an antibody drug to treat Corona virus
Eli Lilly, a drug manufacturerhas submitted a request to the Food and Drug Administration in the United States of America and the European Union to authorize the start of using the antibody drug it developed to treat the emerging corona virus 19, and has stated that it will seek the same approval to use a dual compound drug within the next month , after the success of its recent research in this area.
The company indicated that the use of a mixture of two types of antibodies in the production of this drug has helped reduce the rates of mutation of the virus significantly from what was happening during the use of one type of antibody in previous experiments , which leads to a significant reduction in the symptoms associated with infection with the Corona virus.
The latest statistics conducted last September indicated that clinical trials for use of the new antibody drug LY-COV555 , which was developed in the framework of cooperation between the Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company and the Canadian company Biotech AbCellera, has contributed significantly to reducing the number of patients in hospitals and also in reducing the rates of reception numbers Cases suffering from symptoms of the emerging corona virus in hospital emergency departments.
Based on these fruitful results ,Eli Lilly expects to produce nearly one million doses of Biotech by the end of this year after obtaining approval from the Food and Drug Administration.
This drug is designed to treat mild to moderate degrees of symptoms of Corona disease , and statistics have shown that through testing the drug on 268 patients ,only 1% of them required hospital care , compared to 5.8% of those who used the placebo drug.
The drug has also proven successful in achieving one of the most important goals by reducing the duration of the body’s resistance to the virus after using the treatment for only 11 days.
