Director of Cork University Hospital:Giving priority to treating Corona patients over any other cases to meet the expected increase in numbers
The director of Cork University Hospital professor Connor Daisy, said ‘it was imperative that priority be given to treating people with Corona virus over any other cases, and that Cork Hospital is under great pressure and faces a shortage in both worlds as many of them are forced to isolate themselves because they have been in contact with people infected with the Coronavirus,Or they might have contracted the virus.
He also advised citizens to show responsibility by adhering to public health guidelines and limiting social contacts and making them absolutely necessary, and he gave simple advice -stay isolated ,stay away from others.
He also explained that this wave is different from the first wave in that when the first wave spread in the month of March the hospital was fully equipped for those infected with Corona virus and transferred other cases to hospitals prepared to receive these cases , but with the increasing number of infected people and the hospital was subject to pressure in the second wave ,the hospital could not do that matter.
Health officials have warned that the Corona virus is out of control and it is expected that the number of cases in Ireland will reach 2,500 cases per day by the end of the month.
