Bicycle theft increased by 24% this year in Cork

Degree theft in Cork City rose 24% in the first eight months of this year.
Police in Cork urges cyclists to take the utmost care of their bikes.
Cork City Cirme Prevention Officer Sgt, Brian McSweeney said’Bicycle theft is a big thing right now as he advises people to make sure they have proper locks for their doors and good locks for their bikes.
It was confirmed that in recent months several bicycles were stolen in the Balincollege area ,and six bicycles were stolen from Ballincollege Park
According to the latest Police reports ,the average value of a stolen bike is around 500 euros , while more than 10% of stolen bikes are worth 1,000 euros or more B icycles are most likely to be stolen during the day in public places , and during the night from residential sites.
