New €17 million Scheme to boost outdoor dining

Last summer ,the Irish city of Cork made international headlines with the launch of the ,,Open- Air Dining ,, initiative launched by companies on princes Street , which achieved unparalleled acceptance by visitors, this initiative gives restaurant owners the right to use the pavements opposite them to set tables that enable visitors from enjoying outdoor dining , the initiative is scheduled to be launched again in Cork after the restrictions imposed by the Corona pandemic are eased.
On Wendnesday ,April 31,2021, the Irish government announced an investment of €17 million to fund a new scheme aimed at developing outdoor dining capacity nationwide, the scheme will be delivered in partnership between Failte Ireland and local authorities across the country.
this scheme has two main objectives:
The first objective:to enable tourism companies to develop and increase the capacity of external seats and all that is necessary to prepare the place for visitors .
The second goal :to enable a long-term strategy for local local authorities to develop an infrastructure suitable for outdoor dining and weather resistance. the goal is to support jobs and companies and transform outdoor spaces within cities into more pleasant and vibrant places , which will help support the Irish economy in general
Companies can also obtain material support from the government of up to 4000 euros, thus being able to cover the expenses incurred since last April, and each local authority can also obtain 200,000 euros to implement its own plan.

Paul Kelly , Chief Executive Officer of Failte Ireland said”We have worked closely with the County and city Management Association (CCMA) on behalf of local authorities to design an efficient scheme and we look forward to seeing scheme and we look forward to seeing scheme results across the country.
