Egyptologists discover the lost golden city under the sand in luxor

Egyptologist and head of the Egyptian mission Dr.Zahi Hawass, announced the discovery of the lost city under the sands called “Ascension of Aton”which dates back to the reign of King Amenhotep III
Dr.Zahi Hawass said in a press release on theThursday that the expedition haf found the largest city ever in Egypt, which is 3,000 years old located in luxor Governorate, which was founded by one of the most powerful rulers of Egypt ,King Amenhotep III

The expedition began excavation work in the area in September 2020, and within weeks, formations of mud bricks began to appear in all directions ,and a great surprise was the discovery of a large city in good condition of preservation with almost complete walls, and rooms filled with tools of daily life.

On her part ,Dr.Besty Brian, professor of Egyptology at Johns Hopkins University, said “the discovery of the lost city is the second most important archaeological discovery since the tomb of Tutanhamun was discovered”
During the excavation ,the mission found a large number of archaeological discoveries, such as scarabs, rings, colored pottery ,and milk bricks bearing the cartridge seals of King Amenhotep III ,and a large tomb was uncovered, the extent of which has not yet been determined. Excavation: Several neighborhoods and housing units were discovered in that city , and two unfamiliar burials of a cow or abull were found in one of the rooms , and a wonderful burial of a person was found with his arms streched out next to him and the remains of a rope wrapped around his Knees
In the southern part, the mission found a bakery and food preparation places complete with ovens and clay pots for storage.

The discovery of this lost city provides a deep understanding of the daily life of the ancient Egyptians in terms of the style of construction , the manner of designing the houses , and the tools they used.
It is worth nothing that Egypt is striving to revitalize tourism ,especially by promoting its ancient heritage, and last week Egypt dazzled the world with agreat event , which is the lunch of a procession of royal mimmies from the Egyptian Museum to the National Museum of Civilization.
