Ireland condemns the de facto annexation of the Palestinian territories by Isreal
The Irish government endorsed and supported the parliamentary proposal presented by the opposition Sinn Fein party on Thursday to condemn the Israeli settlement expansion in Palestine, thus Ireland would be the first European country to recongnize Israeli settlement in Palestinian lands.
The Irish Foreign Minister, Mr Simon Coveney, supported the parliamentary move to condemn the Israeli settlements and condemned the actual annexation of Palestinian lands. He also condemned the recent missile attacks on Israel by the Palestinian Hamas group and affirmed that Israel continues to violate international law by expanding Israeli settlements in Palestinian lands and forcing the Palestinians to leave their homes. Severely.
John Brady , the foreign affairs spokesperson for Sinn Fein, said We say with confidence that Israel is acting illegally under international law and we strongly condemn this , He also said that most of the settlements Israel has built in Palestinian lands since the 1967 we are illegal and an obstacle to peace with Palestine and the Sinn Fein party refused to support the government amendment condeming Hamas.
