Government announces €185m investment in Cork city rail development with new train stations planned at Blarney, Blackpool, and Tivoli
The Irish government has announced a major investment to develop Cork`s commuter rail , with the € 185 million investment forming
part of the government`s economic recovery plan.
This large investment will greatly increase the passenger capacity in the Irish city of Cork.
Irish Deputy Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said :This massive government – funded project is going to help create a sustainable public transport infrastructure for the city of Cork and its future residents .
The Cork Green Party has welcomed the investment, espcially that this funding will be used to develop the railway line not only on the north side of the city but will also enable the opening of new stations in Blarney , Blackpool, and Tivoli, and apassenger railway will be establihed running from Malo through Kenneth station It will then connect to existing commuter rail lines towards Middleton and Cobb after which also it will connect to Pinkolly and then Kent to Mahon.
