Taoiseach Michea`l Martin welcomes announcement of 1,000 new jobs by Home Instead
Home Instead , a leading provider of home care services for seniors , announces 1,000 new jobs The Dublin- based company currently supports home care support for approximately7,000 people across the country and is set to increase its Irish workforce by 25% such services over the coming decades as the world population aged 65years or over is expected to double by 2050.
The number of people over the age of 65 in Ireland is expected to reach 1,4 million by 2040, and greater growth is also expected in the population aged 80 or over, as with the increase in life expectancy in Ireland the need for home care increases High- quality and experienced home – care providers, for the vast majority of older adults, home care has better health outcomes and is less expensive than institutional care.
Meanwhile, Mr, Martin said“Supporting the elderly to live in their homes with dignity and independence, for as long as possible, is priority for the Irish government, especially as Ireland faces the huge challenge of an aging population the coming years.
Mr Martin emphasized that these new jobs were made available at the right time- to provide for all of Ireland`s future home care needs, as the irish government looks to rebuild the economy as it emerges from the coronavirus pandemic.
