The opening of a main road project (Kanturk Link Road ) in Cork city next month
Cork County Mayor Cll Gillian Coughlan warmly welcomed the news of the near completion of major works for a major road project that will open to the public from mid- November .The new road will run from Bluepool Upper to Mill Road and will improve connectivity and access to Kanturk Twon Center.
The road is designed to provide a safe environment for all road users, especially cyclists and pedestrians . The road incudes pedestrian paths, cycle paths, public lighting and sanitation facilities.
Cork County Council Chief Executive Officer Tim Lewis added that the project will play an important role in regional road infrastructure and reduce traffic congestion, while improving safety and access to the city centre.
This project was funded by Cork County Council and Rural and Community Development Department through the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund as part of the Ireland 2020 project The project work began in January , and was completed on schedule , The project cost is1.95 million euros.
