Plan for a new bus network in Cork City
The Irish National Transport Authority has announced a plan to provide a new bus net work in Cork City The new plan aims to raise the level of bus service in Cork by more than a third with shorter waiting times and more direct routes for commuters within the city ., the redesign of the bus net work provision plan will be completed in the first quarter from 2022 with the new network launched from 2023.
The proposals in the plan will enable more residents of the city and areas within Cork City to have acess to the bublic transport network with Little , Cobh, Island, Ringaskiddy, Carrigaline , Ballincolling , Glanmire, Blarney, and it is also hoped that Luas will be intorduced in the near future.
Under the proposals in the announced plan, the level of bus service in Cork will increase by 36% , 34% of the population will be close to the available service, and fares will be simplified in such a way that exchanges will be seamless customers will not have to pay extra to switch between bus services .
The new plan the content of its proposals has been prepared by Jarrett Walker and Assocites , aUS- based public transportion design firm in association with Cork City Council and Bus Eireann.
