NPHET recommends wearing Covid- 19 masks for children aged nine years and over
The Irish National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has recommended the wearing of masks for children in primary school grade 3 and above aged 9 years and over, and recommended that these children wear masks in public transport, retail and other public places, where this rule applies , Currently on those aged 13 ander over.
The NPHET also suggests that children avoid community gathering for at least two weeks, including indoor birthday parties and other similar seasonal events.
The move comes after the European Medicines Agency earlier approved the use of Pfizer BionTech’s Covid-19 vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years.
Chief Medical Officer Dr.Tony Holohan said coronavirus cases are alarmingly high, with 62,401 cases reported in the last 14 days.
on the other hand, the NIAC recommended the National Advisory committee on Immunization to use abooster does of the Covid-19 vaccine for everyone aged 16 and over, as the booster program has been completed for those over 80 years of age, half of health care workers and half of those over 70 years of age, they have now received booster vaccines.
