The government is considering reducing the working hours for public servants to pre – July 2013 levels
Since 2013 , the working week of public servants who worked 35 hours or less has been changed to 37 hours per week , and at the same time the working week of those who worked more than 35 hours has been increasd to 39 hours , under the recommmendation made by the independent body headed by the CEO of the Commission Labor Relations , Kern Mulvey , will return to pre – July 2013 hours , which had a minimum workweek of about 35 hours.
It is estimated that the move will cost 180 million eurs this year and 360 million eurs in full year that.
Therefore , the government is considering this recommendation due to the presence of many grievances from public employees , most of whom are low – paid , this recommendation , if accepted by the Minisiter of public Expenditure and Reform, Mr Michael McCrath , will be welcomed by the affected public officials, and will greatly enhance the possibility of continuing services, general and its quality.
Overtime has also pushed many nurses to work part- time due to the additional pressure placed on care responsibilities . Since 2013, unpaid overtime has been imposed on workers and workers have felt the significant negative impact on their morale.
