Irish water: North Cork City boil notice issued for Killavullen Public water Supply Immediate effect to protect public health

A Boil Water Notice has been issued to all residents of North Cork City getting their supply from killavullen Water Treatment Plant due to a problem causing high levels of turbidity in the water supply Irish Water is working to correct problems at Killavullen treatment Plant with the aim of raising the notice as soon as possible , in the meantime , all customers in the are advised to boil water before using it until further notice.
Customers have been reminded that the water is safe to consume once it has been boiled.
Water should be boiled for :
drinking
Prepare salads and foods that have not been cooked before eating.
Teeth brushing.
Ice making from cooled boiled water.
What actions should be taken .
Use water intended for drinking when preparing foods that will not be cooked , such as salads.
Boil water (eg using an automatic boiler) and let it cool, cover and store in a cool place.
Water from a hot tap is not safe to drink, Household water filters will not make water safe to drink , Be carful when bathing children to ensure they do not swallow the bath water , Prepare infant food with water that has been boiled and cooled .
Reboiled water is not used multipleTtimes.
Irish water is working closely with Cork County Council to raise the notice as soon as it is safe .
