As part of the preparations for Brexit ,Irish companies are asked to improve their workforce skills in preparation for the implementation of the Skillnet Ireland customs clearance program starting next january.
The Minister of state of Additional Skills and Education Mr .Niall collins also highlighted the support available through the Skillnet Ireland customs clearance program ,which is an online training program to support Irish companies to develop their capacity to handle additional customs requirements that will be required from 1 january 2021.
Businesses trading with Britain will also be subject to a set of new customs and regulatory requirements as of that date, as it is estimated that the required customs declarations will increase from 1.6 million annually to 20 million after the UK’s exit from the customs union and the single market.
It is noteworthy that about 90 thousand Irish companies conduct commercial transactions during Britain every year, and then the customs clearance program is designed to meet the needs of each of these companies.
