An expected permit from the government to approve the continuation of Dunkettle’s road and construction works on the N8/N25 axes in Cork city

Dunkettle Road and Construction is waiting to obtain permission from the government within the coming weeks, to complete the construction work on the N8/N25 axes.
During the past year, the necessary equipment supplies for electricity cables, water lines and gas were completed in preparation for the start of construction and construction works for the axes , which are scheduled to be completed within the next three years.
The project , which was announced in 2011 with an estimated cost of 120 million euros, had encountered some obstacles during implementation, as the cost exceeded the amounts estimated for the project, and the contracting parties were unable to reach an agreement on how to cover these additional costs.
In 2019, a new contractor, Dunkettle, was agreed to complete the building and construction work on the two hubs based on the new designs and the additional costs it entails.
Dunkettle has obtained the initial approval for the designs from the transportation, tourism and sports sectors, and the final approval from the government remains the decisive factor in making the decision to continue this project or not.
A Dunkettle spokesperson says that we hope obtain government approval for this huge project, which although it is scheduled to be delivered after three years, a large portion of it could be opened by 2022.
