Justice Minister Helen Mckinty announces facilitating access to Irish citizenship for children born in Ireland

Justice Minister Helen MCkinty announced that she will make it easier for Irish citizens born in Ireland whose parents are not Irish citizens and who are not entitled to citizenship at birth
At the present time , all children born in Ireland are not entitled to obtain citizenship because their parents are not Irish citizens, and to obtain citizenship, the child must be born in Ireland and resided there for four years and in addition to that residence for a full year in the country without leaving it before the date Submit and application for citizenship.
In this way, Minister Helen Mckinty will reduce the period of time that these children must spend in the country become Irish citizens from five years to three years , and instead of the terms of residency for a period of four years and one year of residence in the state before applying , the period will become two years if residency and one year before submitting application.


The proposal appeared during discussions between Minister of justice Mckinty and labor Senator Ivana Basik to allow children who are currently on their way to obtaining citizenship to obtain it at an early stage, and these changes will be in cludded in the next civil law .Law this to the government in the coming weeks.
It is worth nothing that this amendment is only entitled to children whose parents legally reside in the country.
