The Minister of Health authorizes the booster vaccines for health care workers
Ireland’s Minister of Health, Stephen Donnelly , authorized a recommendation to release the booster vaccines for healthcare workers, based on new advice from the National Immunization Advisory Committee (NIAC), Whereby around 270, 000 healthcare workers will receive the booster vaccines.
The vaccines will start being given at the end of next week, The mRNA vaccine will be given regardless of the type of primary vaccine – which means that health care workers who receive the AstraZenca vaccine as first dose can benefit from the mRNA booster dose Pfizer and Moderna regardless of the quality of the pimary vaccines.
Health care workers are also more susceptible to infection with MERS-CoV Than the general population due to frequent contact with infected individuals , so there is a need to en sure the provision of booster vaccines to ensure maximum protection.
On the other hand 2,855 other cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed on Monday , there are 515 patients in the hospital infected with the coronavirus , including 91 in the intensive care unit .
