The Irish Department of Health provides Free flu shots to people 50 and over
Ireland’s National Health Service (HSE) is urging people aged 50 and over across the country to get a flu shot this holiday season .
This comes after the Ministry of Health announced the extension of the free vaccination for those over the age of fifty, after it was previously provided to those over the age of 65 only.
The flu vaccine will be administered by general practitioners and pharmacy staff and will be offered until the end of this flu season in April 2022.
Dr. Aparna Keegan , Director of the HSE National Office of Immunization , welcomed the Ministry of Health’s decision to extend the seasonal influenza vaccination program to people aged 50 and over.
Influenza can be serious illness and can affect all ages so these 50 years of age or older are encouraged to apply for the Covid-19 booster vaccinations and also take advantage of the free flu vaccine.
