FAI:A feasibility study to assess opportunities for the UK and Republic of Ireland to host the UEFA Euro 2028
In a statement issued by the football Association of England (FAI), after an extensive feasibility study to assess potential opportunities in international football, the football associations of the Irish Republic England, Northern Ireland and Scotland have agreed to try to prepare to host the European Football Championship 2028. As this event is considered the third largest sporting event in the world , this comes in the wake of the recent decision of these countries to cancel plans to host the 2030 World Cup.
In general, the federations of these countries decided to focus only on an official attempt to host the European Nations Cup 2028, through a feasibility study that includes an analysis The economic impact and political landscape of football and the potential cost of hosting this major international tournament.
Many also believe that the Irish Republic and United Kingdom can bring something special to European and UEFA football in 2028 and their cooperation will provide a great experience for teams and fans.
FAI CEO Jonathan Hill said that both Aviva and Cork Parks are under consideration for hosting , and that there is currently no large enough stadium in Northern Ireland to host any matches.
